Why Should You Build Your Own Computer?

Motherboard

The key to a high-performance system, business system or bargain system is the motherboard. The motherboard is the heart of the system you build. Whether you choose AMD or Intel to build your system, the eBay selection of new, near new and used motherboards is unmatched.

CPU / Processor

The CPU is the brain of your computer. Between AMD and Intel Processors, you will be able to choose from the latest, greatest processors with dual core, quad-core or even AMD's Triple-Core technology. The more cores, the more tasks your processor can run simultaneously without slowing down.

System Memory

A large amount of memory is the single most affordable thing you can do to boost your system's performance. If you're using Microsoft Vista, don't go any lower than 4GBs. 8 GBs of RAM is even better, but keep in mind that only 64-bit versions of Vista or the new Windows 7 will address up to 8 GIgabytes of RAM. Windows XP will only address 3-GB of RAM. Don't hesitate to buy 8 Gigabytes of RAM if you plan on using Windows 7 or a 64-bit version of Vista. If you're using XP Professional or a 32-Bit Version of Vista, we recommend 4-GB. XP Users, don't worry about buying 4GBs, even though you're OS only supports 3GB. The cost difference is minimal. We Recommend 4-GB minimum for everyone.

Hard Drives

Today's hard drives can be as large as 2-Terrabytes. That's a heckuva lot of data. For the money, you cannot go wrong with 500GB or 1TB Drive. If your motherboard supports Raid-0, Raid-1 or Raid-5, you might consider multiple hard drives.

Graphics Cards

The Graphics Card or Video Card is what makes it possible to play state-of-the-art games or high-speed rendering of 3D Graphics. If you're a gamer, 3D-Modeler or CAD Designer, a high quality Graphics Card is a must.
